The DOHaD 2013 Organising Committee are pleased to announce that the 8th World Congress on Developmental Origins of Health and Diseases will be held on 17 – 20 November 2013 in Singapore.
Themed “From Science to Policy and Action”, the conference will attract researchers, academia, policy makers and health care providers worldwide to converge and present the latest science and developments on basic, clinical, public health and programmatic research into early-life and developmental origins of health and diseases. The plenary sessions will cover the full spectrum of topics from our multidisciplinary field, ranging from epigenetics to economics. The programme will also include a series of satellite symposias, workshops, special programmes for students and emerging researchers, as well as number of panel discussions to deal with some controversial areas. We believe that the current programme will give far greater focus on demonstrating how science can impact policy and action than in previous years.
With a growing awareness of the implications of maternal well-being on long term health, there is a growing impetus to focus on a life-course approach to address the burden of non-communicable diseases. We are hopeful that this congress will aid public policy makers to develop interventional approaches to address the proliferation of non-communicable diseases, in both the developed and developing world.
The abstract submission deadline is 24 May 2013: 2359 hours (Singapore time). No abstract will be considered after the closing date.
